About us
The Farallones Foundation is an environmental NGO created in 1987 by a group of citizens committed to the conservation of the Los Farallones de Cali National Natural Park, and in particular, to the protection and restoration of the Middle and Upper Basin of the Pance River.
Through the conversion of cattle farms into forests, as well as carrying out research, environmental education and sustainable development programs, the Farallones Foundation has managed to carry out exhaustive biological research and a successful recovery of the forest cover in the area and, therefore, the flow and quality of the waters of the Pance River, today considered one of the best preserved rivers in Colombia.
The Farallones Foundation mobilizes awareness and knowledge processes, which commit environmental action, in favor of respect for life and social development.
Through the restoration, control and maintenance of forests, we protect the Pance River, the Yotoco River and the Valle River (in Bahía Solano). To achieve this we have outlined four lines of action:

Within the conservation program, research focused on Phenological, Biogeographical and Ethnobotanical Studies has been promoted.

Conserve and restore the forest cover of the hydrographic basins of the Pance River, Yotoco River (Cali and Yotoco municipalities, Valle del Cauca Department) and Valle River (Bahía Solano municipality, Chocó Department), through the research, education, training of environmental leaders and community development.

Vision
By 2026, the Farallones Foundation will have a consolidated Research Center endorsed by Colciencias and an arboretum in the Pance river basin and will be recognized as a leading organization in conservation, restoration, research and environmental education.
In 2002, the honeysuckle nursery became part of the Farallones Foundation as the main support for the production of forest material and the sustainability of the organization.
In the year 2005, the Foundation began to extend its natural recovery and conservation work to other areas of the country, such as the Valle River Basin in Bahía Solano, Chocó, and the Hato Viejo property in the municipality of Yotoco, a rural area adjacent to the Yotoco Forest Nature Reserve.

The work ofreforestation, control and maintenanceadvanced by the Farallones Foundation has encouraged community participation, local institutional development and the formation of a network of nature reserves, today all of them converted into regenerated forests, preserved and protected from invasions or exploitation activities such as hunting, mining and wood extraction.
